I just wanted to thank everyone for helping out AndyT in response to the diary I wrote on Wednesday.
As usual, this community has demonstrated an incredible level of commitment, generosity and compassion.
If you didn't see the diary the other day, there are a few details below the fold.
As you probably know, AndyT was instrumental in proposing and organizing this Netroots Nation discussion session, called Examining the Maze of Injustice: Our Failure to Protect Native American Women from Violence. Georgia Little Shield, director of the Pretty Bird Woman House shelter, will be on the panel, along with two representatives from Amnesty International, one of whom is also on the board of the shelter.
Unfortunately, Andy got in a little over his head with his offer to fund the part of Georgia's travel that the Netroots Nation stipend didn't cover because of a sudden doubling of the airfare between Bismark ND and Austin.
So, he put up in a ChipIn, but then was too embarrassed to publicize it sufficiently.
Well, I'm pleased to announce that Andy's goal of raising $500 has now been surpassed by $75. If you still want to ChipIn (his request was modest relative to the cost, IMHO) you can still do so here. Mainly, though, I want to thank you for your generosity from the bottom of my heart. You are amazing people.
